Stadium St. Jakob Park, Basel

After finishing reinstallation and upgrading the solar power plant, over 200 kWp peak power has been connected to the grid again since 2006.

Originally the PV power plant on the roof top of St. Jakob Park was installed in 2005 during extension works of the stadium stands. One year later reinstallation and upgrading works of the solar power plant were carried out successfully, making the final solar power plant about one third larger than the original. The extended project produces more than 170’000 kWh of clean energy annually. That accounts for about 10% of the solar power production of the canton Basel-City. The architectural integration of the solar modules was carefully coordinated with the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron.
