Shopping mall M Parc Geneva

The solar power plant on the rooftop of the shopping mall M-Parc in Geneva has taken up production of solar power in 2006.

Centrally located in Geneva-Carouge a new solar power plant has been in operation since April 2006. Easily visible from the surrounding residential neighborhood, the solar power plant is harmonically integrated into the existing roof cover. The electricity produced by the PV plant is fed into the grid of the local utility company and marketed as “naturemade star” certified solar power.

One of the largest Swiss retailers, Migros in Geneva, has made 8’000 sqm of roof area available for this solar power plant in order to demonstrate the importance of advancing renewable energies also on their own premises. The roof of the newly built shopping mall is covered by standing seam metal sheets, on which the solar modules were installed in aesthetic arrays. ADEV Solarstrom, an investor for renewable energies, handled the financing and also operates the power plant. energieburo initiated and developed the project and was responsible for planning, engineering, and installing the solar power plant.
